After serving in the Vets for Freedom, Hegseth joined Fox News as a contributor in 2014. Following that, he has interviewed many famous personalities but his interview with President Donald Trump in September 2017, stands out as a highlight of his TV career.
Hegseth was criticized for supporting Trump and for making false claims on air. In May 2018, Hegseth challenged The New York Times for purportedly not embracing a story about the capture of five ISIS leaders, indicating to the paper as the "failing New York Times". Though, it was The New York Times that released the story in question.
Then in December 2018, Hegseth co-hosted several hours long New Year's Eve shows with Fox Business Network's Kennedy.
During the show, he also released a pre-recorded telephone interview between him and President Trump, which was aired in the show.
