    Mako got famous after he voiced the famous character Iroh in a popular Nickelodeon series "Avatar: The Last Airbender." In the sereis, Mako played Prince Zuko's uncle Iroh and was a supporting actor working alongside Dante Basco, who played Zuko in the Animated series.

    He was at first seen as a goofy tea-loving uncle of an arrogant prince, but he later comes out as Zuko's real guardian, his mentor, and a father who lost his only son in a war against the city of Basingse.

    Mako Iwamatsu was born on December 10, 1933, in Kobe, Japan, and he left the world on July 21, 2006, at the age of 72 years. He moved to America in 1939, along with his parents.

    Mako's father's name was Taro Yashima, who was one of the children's book authors, as well as an illustrator and studied architecture after moving to America.

    Mako joined the military force in the 1950s and then became a naturalized citizen of America in 1956.

    While Mako was on the military, he discovered his theatrical talent, and then after he took retirement, he joined the Pasadena Community playhouse.

    Mako's debut movie was "Never So Few," released in 1959. After he got frustrated playing small roles, he and six of his fellow Asian-American actors started the East-West Players theater.

    Mako was also an initial cast of Broadway Pacifical Overtures musical by Stephen Sondheim, and he also won a Tony Awards for Best Musical Actor in 1976. 

    The company was the earliest Asian-American theater, which has created so many Asian-American Playwrights and actors. He worked as an artistic director of the company until 1989.

    Mako has appeared as Po-Han in the movie "The Sand Pebbles," which released in 1966. For his role as Po-Han in the film "The Sand pebbles," he was named as the Best Supporting Actor by an Academy prize in the year 1966.

    He has also appeared in other hit movies like "The barbaric player," "Conan and Destroyer," The Fearless One," etc.

    Mako has also worked as a voice-over artist, and his most notable voice role when he played Iroh in popular Nickelodeon series " Avatar: The Last Airbender."

    Mako has also appeared in video games with his debut role as Goblin Grubjub in "Lionheart: Legacy of the Crusader" in 2003. He has also voiced the narrator in-game "Wrath Unleashed" in the year 2004.

    Unfortunately, Mako died on July 21, 2006, at the age of 72 from a esophageal disease. He had revealed that he'd voice TMNT's Splinter, a  day just before his death.
