Kao's parents wanted him to become a Doctor but in his High-School Lawrence played Lysander A Midsummer Night's Dream in his high-school production.
Surprisingly, his acting was so realistic that he was wrongly arrested for attempt to murder and assault with a deadly weapon during one of the show's in-class previews.
He would have been sentence for 40 years if the whole thing was real but he was released for the show's closing night. So, the whole incident filled Kao with confidence to take on acting career!

However, Kao is still involved in dancing and is now associated with the Kinjaz dance team.
Kao finally started acting after completing B.A. in Theater from the University of California, Irvine (UCI).
