    Freddie Mercury's Bio, Early Life, and Career

    Freddie Mercury was born on the 5th of September, 1946, in Show Town, the British protectorate of Zanzibar, now part of Tanzania. His parents, Bomi Bulsara and Jer Bulsara, were Parsi-Indian. Likewise, he also has a sibling sister Kashmira Bulsara.

    Growing up, he attended St. Peter's English Boarding School in Panchgani, fifty miles outside Bombay, after moving from his hometown. 

    It was back in Panchgani school; his friends started calling him Freddie, which eventually became his name adopted by his parents as well. 

    But after completion of his secondary school, he returned to his home town of Zanzibar, but, In 1964, they moved to Middlesex, England, after Zanzibar Revolution.

    He was interested in singing and writing songs from an early age, which eventually led him to form a band named Queen in 1970 alongside guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor.

    With Queen, Freddie wrote several hits such as;  Somebody to Love, Killer Queen, Bohemian Rhapsody, We Are the Champions, Don't Stop Me Now, and Crazy Little Thing Called Love.

    Furthermore, he also was a tremendous stage performer who made enthusiastic plays and close connections to the audience while performing live events. His 1985 Live Aid concert, is considered as one of his best performances.

    He also started his solo career, with an album Mr. Bad Guy, which included 11 songs. Moreover, he also worked as a producer and guest musician for other musicians.

    Moreover, Mercury and the other Queen members were awarded the Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to the British music industry before his demise in 1991, alongside that, he was also awarded individually.

    Mercury died on the 24th of November, 1991, at the age of 45, due to difficulties from AIDS. He revealed the day before his death that he had incurred the disease, and was already diagnosed in 1987.

    Mercury proceeded to record with Queen even after his diagnosis, and he was posthumously highlighted on the band's final album, Made in Heaven of 1995. 

    In 1992, a tribute show at Wembley Stadium was dedicated to Mercury, and his whole career with Queen was also dramatized in the musical biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, released in 2018.

    As a member of Queen, Mercury was inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001, the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2003, and the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2004.  Mercury was also listed in the 58th position of BBC's poll of the 100 Greatest Britons in 2002.

    Freddie Mercury relationships before his demise

    Mercury was open about being Bisexual, but before revealing he was gay, Mercury met May Austin in 1969 when she was a 19-year-old music store worker. In contrast, Freddie was a 24-year-old who was a rising superstar. 

    They soon started dating, and Mercury also wrote a song, "Love of My Life," dedicated to Austin.

    Mercury proposed her in 1973 and revealed that he was bisexual. The pair was about to get married, but their wedding was called off. Though they stopped dating, they remained close friends to eachother for a long time.

    She always supported him, even after Mercury was diagnosed with AIDS. Mercury gave away most of his estate and his London mansion, Garden Lodge, to Austin, who later got married and gave birth to two kids with another guy, whose name is not disclosed yet. 

    Mercury met Jim Hutton, an Irish hairdresser, in the 1980s at a gay nightclub in London. Mercury offered a drink to Hutton, who didn't realize Mercury was a superstar and rejected his offer.

    After a year and a half, The pair clashed again at another night club and started dating. Less than a year later, Hutton moved in with Mercury. Mercury never revealed his relationship until he died of AIDS in 1991.

    After Mercury's untimely demise, Austin asked Hutton to leave the Garden Lodge. Later, in Mercury's remembrance, Hutton published a book about his connection with the singer titled 'Mercury, and Me alongside Tim Wapshott'.

    Mercury's partner and hairdresser also died at the age of 60, suffering from cancer in 2010.
