Breonna Taylor was a 26-year-old (would have been 27-year-old now) African/American medical scholar, who was fatally shot by Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) officers on March 13, 2020.
All of America, after Geroge Floyd's death, have awakened and united together to work against the systematic racism in America. As Breonna was a colored-minority member killed by a Louisville Policeman, she is recently in talks.
The incident got more public attention after a community of Black Lives Matter took a step to support her unjustified death in a police shooting. Now all the anti-racist advocates are claiming a proper investigation against Breonna Taylor's death, which has brought more media attention towards her.
Breonna Taylor was born on June 5, 1993, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, United States. She is now survived by her parents Tmaika Palmer (mother) and Troy Herrod (father). She also has a sister who's name is not revealed.
Breonna had finished her schooling from Western High School and was a student at the University of Kentucky.
Likewise, she was an emergency medical technician and working in two hospitals, the University of Louisville Jewish Hospital and Norton Healthcare, before her tragic and untimely and death.
On March 13, 2020, at midnight, Louisville police entered the Breonna Taylor's apartment. They shot her after Breonna's boyfriend Kenneth Walker used a licensed firearm and shot police on the leg after hearing an un-warned entrance into Taylor's home.
As per the policemen, they were investigating a guy named Jamarcus Glover, who they believed was dealing with illegal drugs.
After the shooting, Louisville police stated that they forced the door open after it wasn't answered.
But, as per her neighbors and family, the police never announced if they were policemen on the pursuit, which naturally made Ms. Taylor think someone was trespassing.
As per the police, Kenneth shot first, with an authorized firearm, shooting a police officer in the leg; in response, the officers fired more than 20 shots, hitting objects all over the house, and brutally killing Taylor.
Then Kenneth Walker called 911 to inform about the incident, with Breonna Taylor lying dead next to him. After the autopsy, it was known that Breonna was shot at least five times.
Later, the policemen entered the apartment arresting Kenneth Walker, and as no drugs were found in her apartment, police realized it was a wrong call.
Some sources speaking to WAVE3 News told, one of the three police allegedly fired blindly from the outside of the apartment, through a window with closed curtains, but they believe Taylor wasn't shot by any of the bullets fired by the officers who were outside.
Three officers, LMPD police sergeant Jonathan Mattingly, officer Myles Cosgrove, and LMPD plainclothes detective Brett Hankison were involved in this brainless act.
Though, one officer who was shot by Walker has now completely recovered.
Protests began after people knew that the incident was unjustified and was an attack against the black people. Breonna Taylor supporters held a nationwide rally on May 26, 2020, alongside George Floyd supporters.
The protest was encouraged by 'Black Live Matter' after continuous online campaigns, and findings showed an unjustified murder of Breonna Taylor during the George Floyd movement.
As of now, around 4 million protesters have filed petitions to suspend the officers and cut their paychecks.
As of this day, the officers who shot Breonna Taylor are still walking freely under the blue sky as they haven't been charged yet.
On May 15, 2020, Taylor's family filed a lawsuit for the wrongful death of Breonna, and even after a year, police authorities have said that the investigations are on-going.
Though Breonna Taylor's boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, was arrested for shooting one of the officers, who was imprisoned ever since, is now requesting to dismiss all the cases against Kenneth Walker.
Breonna Taylor was 26-year old, and she would have been 27-year-old by June 5, 2020.
Breonna Taylor was shot on March 13, 2020's midnight.
Three officers involved in Breonna Taylor's shooting case were Jonathan Mattingly, Brett Hankison, and Myles Cosgrove.
